How to Help New England Border Collie Rescue

NEBCR, Inc. is a nonprofit, all volunteer organization. We depend on our volunteers and generous donors to help as many dogs as possible. Here are some ways you can help:

Fostering

Volunteering in Other Ways

Wish List (things we need)

Donations

You can help us in a number of ways: by volunteering, by donating to our Rescue Fund, and by donating an item or items on our Wish List. We specify some items by brand only because these are found to work best for us. For example, Midwest folding crates are easily passed around from person to person where there is need, can be transported folded, and work well in both a house or a vehicle, where they can easily folded out of the way when not in use.

Most of the items we wish for are small, but you will also see some really big items here. You may think "Well, that's unrealistic!" Perhaps it is, but what good is a wish list if you cannot include everything you wish for and need? (And if you have an "in" at the North Pole, please pass our list on to you-know-who.)

And thank you! We appreciate your help.

Roosevelt Gets Rolling ...and is ready for his forever home!

UPDATE: Roosevelt is ready for his forever home! If you think you might be the perfect home for Roosevelt, please READ HIS BIO and learn more about him.

Roosevelt's Story
New England Border Collie Rescue, Inc. is giving this sweet young Border Collie a second chance at a happy and pain-free life. His name is Roosevelt.

Roosevelt has congenitally deformed front legs, which provide him no support for walking.

Luckily, Roosevelt was an excellent candidate for a front-end cart, manufactured by Eddie's Wheels.

Every Eddie's Wheels cart is custom built to fit the weight, frame, and needs of each disabled dog.

Front-end cart modeled here by Sparks the Bull Terrier
www.eddieswheels.com

On Feb. 18, Roosevelt got his new cart from Eddie's Wheels.

Many thanks to an anonymous donor who arranged for full payment of the cost of the cart!!

See video of Roosevelt in action on our BLOG.

Although we charge an adoption fee, this is never enough to cover our expenses. Ordinary vet costs (vaccinations, spay or neutering, heartworm test and preventative) often far exceed the adoption fee. When a dog comes into rescue that needs special care or surgery, these costs can sometimes become hundreds or thousands of dollars. Occasionally, we run out of room in foster care and need to board a dog for a few days or longer. This can add up as well. We need your help to be able to continue to provide the care needed for ALL our rescue dogs. Giving a donation to our organization will go towards helping to pay for our ordinary expenses, but will also help us with our extraordinary expenses.

NEBCR, Inc. is an ALL VOLUNTEER, 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation and all donations made to NEBCR are tax-deductible.

SUPPORTING AN INDIVIDUAL DOG:

If you prefer to give a donation for a specific dog, we welcome your generosity as well. All our dogs need help in one form or another, even if it is just food and care, but sometimes people like to put a face on the dog they are helping. You may sponsor a dog that needs boarding, help to pay for a dog's special needs, or just help us feed and care for a particular dog. Please read the biographies of our dogs and if you can find it in your heart to help one of them, please let us know which dog you wish to support. Your donation will then be earmarked specifically for that dog.

In Memoriam... Mollie and Adelle

Click the photos below
to read their stories:

Mollie

Adelle

These 2 sweet old girls came into rescue due to circumstances well out of their control.

Mollie's caretaker had died, leaving her with nowhere to go. Upon entering rescue, it was found that Mollie was suffering from advanced Lymphoma.

Adelle (at 16+ years of age) had spent much of her recent life living neglected, in a garage, and was about to be dumped by the one person she trusted.

In both these cases, NEBCR volunteers selflessly stepped forward to make room in their homes and hearts to ensure that whatever time these dogs had left would be spent warm, comfortable, cared for and loved.

Mollie and Adelle's stories show the need for geriatric foster homes and in some cases, hospice care where the only thing we can provide is care and comfort for a dog's final days. If you can open your heart and home to help dogs like Mollie and Adelle, please contact us.
