Ira

Ira is an (almost) 11-year-old Border Collie mix, though people are routinely surprised when they find out how old he is! He has the energy and spirit of a much younger dog. Ira has a black and white coat, perky ears, and a jolly little paintbrush tail. At 32 pounds, he’s big enough to have a real presence but small enough to scoop up as needed. Through no fault of his own, Ira needs a new home as he is not so sure about the toddler in the family.

Ira is happiest when he’s with YOU. Whether you are looking for a companion for long walks or a buddy to curl up on the couch with (or both!), Ira is your guy.

He’s a charmer with a stellar track record of winning over dog people and non-dog people alike through his affectionate and snuggly demeanor. Ira is a little smarty-pants who knows his commands (sit, stay, shake, roll over — though he can only roll to his left!), and loves to learn. He is up to date on vaccines and has no major medical issues.

Ira is best suited for an adult-only home. He is uneasy around young children and is leash reactive to other dogs. He will thrive with teenagers or grown-ups who are looking for a new best friend.

Ira has been a steady companion for a decade and has so much love left to give. Could you be his person? 🐾
