About Callie

Introducing Callie!
A 4-year-old, sweet and sensitive, loveable lady. She is a black and white rough-coated border collie, her coat is so super silky soft and just a little bit wavy. Combine that with her soulful eyes and petite stature and you will be powerless against the need to snuggle with her.

She will have no trouble snuggling right back once she gets to know you. Callie is very shy and super cautious around strangers, but once she knows you are her person(s), she is an absolute love bug!

Callie is fully vetted, spayed and microchipped, and weighs in at 39 lbs. She is housetrained, has command of sit, down, paw and has good recall under quiet conditions, but fuzzy chasable animals and other exciting dogs are just too distracting.

A fenced yard is a must along with continued work on her recall. She travels great in a car. Some of her favorite activities include soccer ball, chewing on bones and loves to find treats in snuffle mats. She loves to go for walks and hikes, and is so enthusiastic that she bounces and hops with a bit of pulling at the beginning. The pulling is minimized by a no-pull front attachment harness. We were told she loves to go swimming but we have not had the chance to see this in action.

An example of her intelligence and willingness to learn: It only took about two play sessions before she realized that her foster brother carries his own ball in at the end of play time and started doing the same with the “bring it in” command. We did an informal introduction to agility and she was comfortable with the dog walk and A-frame almost immediately and was getting the hang of tunnels too. We get the feeling she would love to continue agility training in a quiet setting. The speed at which she blended into our daily routine emphasizes her ease with learning new things.

Callie is looking for a quiet home that does not have strangers coming and going all the time. While she is perfectly fine with children, the hustle and bustle is overstimulating for her so we would recommend a house without children. Due to her love of fuzzy chasable animals, we would recommend a house without cats as well. She would be very happy if her person(s) were around much of the time to share the love.

Callie has fit in well with her two very tolerant foster siblings. They play, eat and sleep together, but Callie gets in their personal space a lot, looking for companionship. Callie would thrive with the right sibling(s) that wouldn’t be bothered by a close pal and could help her grow her confidence.

So, if you are looking for a gentle, loving, moderately active and beautiful lady, Callie just might be your girl!
