About Tessa

Introducing Tessa!

Tessa weighs 55 lbs. and has gorgeous markings. She came into the rescue being anxious and unsure of many things in life but has really come out of her shell since being in her foster home.

She has become a happy- go-lucky, tail-wagging girl ready for walks, hikes, car rides, or just hanging out.

Her favorite thing is exploring and running through the woods with her foster brother. She has excellent recall, with nice check-ins always keeping one eye on you. Tessa would make a perfect hiking/trail-walking partner, especially when she can be off-leash.

The foster home has been working with Tessa, and she walks nicely on a leash in areas with few distractions. However, she will need patience and guidance when encountering people and other dogs, as she is uncertain and easily excited.

Tessa will need time to warm up to people, but once she is comfortable, she is a real loving gal, enjoying many belly rubs, and becoming your best friend. Also, will need a proper introduction to other dogs.

Again, once comfortable, she loves to play with other dogs, and she has attended doggie daycare on occasion in her previous home. She shows interest in cats and may chase them in a friendly way; however, she redirects quickly and could be placed in a dog-savvy cat home.

She has also lived with a toddler in her previous home, but is more comfortable with kids over 12.

She is a smart girl who enjoys learning tricks, doing puzzles, nose work, playing tug of war, plus chewing on her bone. And at the end of the day, she likes to snuggle at your feet.

  • Knows sit, lie down, touch, spin, paws up, give paw, wait, stay, and is working on a reliable leave it. Treat motivated. Peanut butter and Greek yogurt at the top of her favorites.
  • Can be a very vocal girl, she definitely will alert you to any danger that may be lurking around the corner.
  • Rides great in the car, in or out of the crate
  • Crate trained in the house for short periods of time, prefers to have a safe room vs crating
  • Ready to go, she is the first one at the door.
  • Hates having her picture taken, hard to capture her happy-go-lucky personality.
  • Medium energy, low prey drive

Tessa is looking for that furever home to provide her patience, with a rural environment including low distractions so she may continue to feel safe and flourish. Room to run and play without concerns of approaching people or other dogs.

She LOVES to be outside, especially in the snow with her caretaker or furry foster brothers, always staying close by.

Tessa would also greatly benefit from a calm, confident furry companion or from regularly scheduled playdates.

Tessa is a bit of a velcro dog, staying close, obedient, loyal, and has a great personality with a zest for life.
