Andy, better known around his foster home as Roo, is a 14-week-old Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix and one very happy, bouncy baby.

Why Roo? Think Winnie the Pooh’s Tigger crossed with a kangaroo. He bounces through life with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a strong desire to meet everyone!

Roo is sweet, social, playful, and loves to train. He is highly food motivated and learns incredibly quickly. He already knows sit, down, touch, spin, paws up, and how to go to his crate. He also has a good start on his recall. Training is one of his favorite activities, especially when treats are involved.

He loves his toys, loves to play, and is curious about just about everything. Once settled into his schedule, Roo is a very good puppy. He does still need work on potty training, though, and his adopters should be prepared to keep him on a consistent schedule and continue helping him learn.

Roo is an energetic, active puppy who is going to need an equally active and engaged home. He is definitely not a couch potato! As he grows, he will need good outlets for both his energy and his very busy brain. Hiking, dog sports, herding, training, or other activities he can do alongside his people would be right up his alley. This is a puppy who wants to be part of the action and have something to do.

Roo currently lives with his sibling and three adult dogs. He absolutely loves other dogs and is very social. He is still a baby and sometimes needs reminders about proper doggy manners and personal space. He responds well when the experienced adult dogs in his foster home tell him when enough is enough.

Roo has not been tested directly with cats. There is an older, dog-savvy cat in his foster home, but they have not spent time together. Given his age and social nature, we think he may do well with a dog-savvy cat with careful introductions and supervision.

Roo is a fun, affectionate, curious little guy with a lot of personality and a very busy brain. He is a healthy, happy puppy with all the ingredients to become a fantastic adult dog. He’ll be a wonderful match for someone who enjoys training, being active with their dog, and is excited to help this big, bouncy baby become the best dog he can be.

NOTE: Preference will be given to adopters who have a plan to channel that energy and intelligence through training, dog sports, outdoor adventures, or other activities that will help them reach their full potential.
