Meet Banksy!

With the brains and body of a Border Collie, legs of a giraffe, and energy level somewhere in between- this handsome 4 year old mix is pretty near perfect!

Cats- CHECK!

Banksy lives with a dog savvy cat in his foster home and they are two peas in a pod.

Banksy doesn’t really have a mean bone in his body so animals of all kinds are friends. You really aren’t going to catch this guy keeping the yard clear of critters, but he might try to give them a friendly hello!

Dogs- CHECK!

Bansky is truly a unicorn when it comes to other dogs. He is that one in a million dog who gets along with every dog he meets out and about. When he spots a potential friend he gives a soft wine in hopes of being allowed to say ‘hi’, but also is just fine moving along with his walk and not greeting other dogs.  While in foster care Banksy has also shown that he is super respectful to dogs he lives with and takes his cues from them. 

Adventure-CHECK!

Banksy is always up for a W-A-L-K (yes, he does understand what you are saying). 

Walks, hikes and playing ball are some of his favorites.  Bansky walks well on leash, and those long legs could go for miles! 

Off Switch- CHECK!

While Banksy is always up for adventure, he is also always up for a nap in a cozy bed. Banksy has great manners in the house and you won’t catch him counter surfing, climbing on furniture, or being destructive. He is happy to hang with his people and loves a good comfy dog bed.

Love bug- CHECK!

Banksy loves his people. He wakes up joyful and ready for a belly rub, and would love nothing more than to give those he trusts as many face kisses as possible. You can’t help but feel happy when you come home to Banksy’s greeting.

Meeting New People

Banksy can be a bit apprehensive when meeting new people in his own home. He will cautiously smell them but soon warms up to them. You may hear a few woofs when someone comes to the door but overall he is a quiet boy. Treats of course are helpful. Out and about he is very respectful and polite with people he meets.

Sudden Movements

Banksy has moments that he is easily startled by sudden movements and loud noises.  He does get used to them with a consistent routine, but his go-to reaction when you do normal things like drop something or make a loud noise is to shy away and be afraid.  For this reason we think he’d do best in a home without younger children. He has shown that he can do fine with visits and interacting with them, but it would be a stressful life for him to have to navigate that day in and day out.

Allergy Management

Banksy came to NEBCR with a skin condition that results in some hair loss on his belly and itching/redness. With the help of a team of vets and testing, we are working our way through figuring out what is causing this and what to do about it.  We hope to have answers soon, but the process of elimination can take time and his adopters will need to be prepared to continue working through this with him if needed.

Other things:

• Banksy would be okay without a fenced in yard in the right circumstances. Fence requirements will be considered on a case by case basis for safety reasons.
• Banksy would LOVE to be someone’s running partner. You have not seen joy in a dog till you’ve seen him run.
• Banksy is being fostered in ME.
