Meet Benny!

A gorgeous 1 y.o. boy who is ready for his furever home!

Benny was a stray being held at an Animal Control Office for just under a month when NEBCR became aware of his situation. Within days he was on his way to becoming a healthy happy boy showing all of those characteristics that we love about border collies.

Benny is the “energizer bunny”, smart, athletic, independent, silly and at the end of the day a love bug giving kisses. 

His favorite time of the day is going to the park where he runs, plays wads in the creek, and explores.

Although Benny is good with other dogs – male, female, fellow border collies, different sizes and breeds, he is still learning there are different play styles.

He takes corrections well from his foster brother by backing away, trying to play again or will go off on his own to play. He enjoys playing with other dogs but is also very content to entertain himself with squeaky toys and balls. He can be a little obsessive with the balls, still very much being  a puppy. However, with a little direction, he does settle.

Benny rides well in the car, is crate trained, treat motivated, has a good recall, knows the basic cues of sit, down, wait, stay, and touch. 

He does have the tendency to jump, which is a work in progress along with walking nice on the leash.

Even though Benny can be a little unsure (still building confidence) of new people and things, he recovers quickly. 

With meeting new people, within several seconds he will be wagging his tail along with giving kisses. 

As with new things, he is cautious, curious, and willing to try or investigate. 

Benny does show interest in cats, tends to have a stalking eye but will disengage with a firm voice.

Due to this interest, a home without cats is preferred but would consider dog savvy cats along with firm set of boundaries.

Benny is ready for his new beginning with an active family, whether it will be going on great adventures, a job or dog sports. If you are looking for an awesome lifetime companion, Benny is your guy!
