About Bridgette
Bridgette is a beautiful 4-year-old smooth-coated Border Collie who has already checked “being a mom” off her list and is now ready for the next chapter of her life. After raising a litter of puppies earlier this year, Bridgette is looking forward to a life where she gets to be the one getting spoiled.

Bridgette is a sweet, affectionate girl who loves being with her people and is an absolutely wonderful snuggler. She has a fun, expressive personality and definitely knows what she wants! She has strong opinions and a wonderfully entertaining way of communicating them, which keeps her foster family laughing.
She is also smart and loves to learn. When it’s time to train, Bridgette has great focus and really enjoys working with her person. She is an enthusiastic learner and would be a lot of fun for someone who enjoys training and giving their dog new things to do.

Bridgette also has an independent, curious side and loves exploring the world around her. She is passionate about following her nose and has a strong prey drive. With her enthusiasm for sniffing and searching, we think she could be an excellent candidate for activities like Barn Hunt or scent work, a great way to put some of those natural instincts to work.
Bridgette has been tested with a cat and showed a very strong prey drive and intense fixation, even when separated by barriers. For this reason, Bridgette cannot be placed in a home with cats or other small animals.

For someone who enjoys spending time outdoors, Bridgette could be a wonderful hiking and adventure companion. However, hiking partner does not mean off-leash hiking partner for this girl! Bridgette is very environmentally focused and can become intensely interested in scents and wildlife. Her previous family also reported that she has escaped fenced areas, so her new family will need to be committed to secure, properly fitted walking equipment and careful management outdoors.

Her loose-leash skills are still a work in progress, and she can be a strong puller. Her foster is actively working with her on leash manners, and her adopter should be prepared to continue that training using positive reinforcement.
One of Bridgette’s nicest qualities is that, despite enjoying activity and adventure, she has a fantastic off switch. At home, she knows how to settle, relax, and enjoy just hanging out with her people, preferably with plenty of snuggling involved. She is quiet in her crate when her foster is home and is comfortable being left loose in the house when her foster is away. She is still uncomfortable being crated in the house when left alone, so this is something her new family will need to manage and, if necessary, continue working on gradually.

Through everything Bridgette has experienced, from raising her puppies to leaving her previous home and adjusting to an entirely new life, she has adapted beautifully. She is affectionate, funny, smart, curious, and full of personality. Bridgette will do best with a family who appreciates her independent streak, enjoys working and training with their dog, understands her strong instincts, and will give her both the security and the adventures she needs.

After spending so much time taking care of her puppies, we think Bridgette has earned the chance to have the attention focused on her. With the right match, she is going to make a wonderfully loyal, entertaining, and very snuggly companion.
