Drake

Inroducing Drake, a true diamond in the rough! Drake is one and a half years old, neutered, and as you can see, very handsome.

He grew up in an apartment so had little opportunity for serious exercise. His former family realized that he needed more of everything than they could give him so he came into rescue.

Drake had very little training as a pup so doesn’t yet know how to act like a gentleman. He is quite active and can be rowdy and pushy but is so very trainable and is quite food motivated.

He loves to run in the yard, play fetch, always tries to pick up multiple toys at the same time. He is quite entertaining to watch! He loves to go for walks and does very well with a no pull harness. BONUS: he doesn’t mind cars or bicycles going by while walking!

There are some pieces of agility equipment at his foster home and he seems to enjoy learning how to use them. He really always wants to interact with his person. Indoors he settles nicely with a chew-toy or bone, likes to always be by his foster mom’s feet.

Drake doesn’t yet have a lot of self control but is learning, even as he lets his opinion be known by being vocal. While he knows that he must sit by the porch door and wait to be released before going out he grumbles and complains but does it anyway.

He gets along with female dogs in his foster home but would much rather be an only dog. He will not be adopted to a family with cats as he will chase them. Though it is not thought that he would intentionally hurt a cat it wouldn’t be fair to the cat. No elderly people or children should be in the household as Drake is very strong and could jump up and push them down.

Drake is housetrained, crate trained, has been quite trustworthy in the house. He will counter surf when he thinks no one is watching. He must have a fully fenced yard to run and play! Minimum height of 4 feet.

Drake will only be adopted to someone active and who has and can demonstrate solid positive reinforcement training methods and can spend the time to continue his training. The result will be a wonderful diamond of a companion.

Drake is crate trained and travels well in car.
