Duke

Duke is a handsome, sweet-natured boy who has made wonderful progress and is slowly learning that the world can be a safe place. After experiencing a lot of change in a short period of time, Duke is still a calm, timid guy, but as he becomes more comfortable, his sweet personality is beginning to shine through.

He is still cautious with new things, and loud noises, sudden movements, and unfamiliar situations can be scary for him. But with time, patience, and reassurance, Duke continues to make progress. Underneath that nervous exterior is an incredibly gentle and loving dog who just wants to feel safe and secure.

Duke thrives with patience, kindness, consistency, and routine. His ideal home would be a quieter environment without a lot of chaos or constant visitors. Duke could likely benefit from having another calm, confident dog in the home, one who can model a predictable routine but isn’t overly interested in being in his space all the time.

Duke is still a work in progress, but he has already shown just how much progress is possible with patience and love. If you’re looking for a gentle soul to nurture and a rewarding journey to share, Duke may be your perfect match.

• It is unknown how Duke is with kids.
• Duke was born in 2019 and is approximately 50lbs.
• A fence is preferred to keep him safe given his fears, but would be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• Training is a requirement for Duke given his fears and would also be a wonderful bonding experience for Duke and his adopter.
