About Jax

Introducing Jax!

Jax is a 3 yr. smooth coated border collie mix that was found as a stray and with the help of a Good Samaritan he found his way to NEBCR.

If you are looking for a nice all – rounded dog, Jax is your guy!

Jax loves to go for walks, hikes, racing around with his foster brother, wading in the creek, exploring the woods, leaping through the high grass, enjoyed Intro to Sports class for agility, obedience, rally, and nose work. He is athletic, observant, focused, loyal and very treat motivated.

He is happy with any activity that will involve his person.

Jax knows sit, down, stay, touch, paws up, watch me, and has a very good wait at the door (leaving the house) and getting out of the car, still working on give paw and leave it. Also continuing with loose leash walking and a good heel.

We are fortunate to have a secure local park that we visit every morning where Jax has earned running on a long line due to his excellent “check -ins” and recall, even when his foster brother tries to intervene to play 🙂

Jax is not a big fan of toys or playing tug, although his favorite thing in the toy category is a ball, again not over obsessed with playing fetch.

When meeting new people Jax tends to be a little unsure, however once he gets to know you, he loves to snuggle and considers himself a lap dog! He will need patience when being introduced. Also, will need time and patience when visiting the vets.

Jax does settle nicely in his crate for the night, yet he would be just as happy to snuggle and keep you warm in bed. In the morning he really enjoys a good stretch and good rub down all-over including belly rubs when he comes out of his crate.

Car rides are at the top of his list, the boy loves to ride and going on adventures. He rides in a crate but can become vocal when excitable (like pulling into the park) or unable to see out.

Jax gets along well with other dogs (male and female) with the proper introduction, and he is great with cats. Oh, did I mention, he also has a nice off switch.

His perfect forever home would be with an active person(s) who works from home or retired. Jax loves spending time with his person. He would benefit from having a confident furry brother or sister yet would be fine as the only dog if training and having adventures continues. He will make some lucky person a wonderful companion.

Note: A fence will be required for Jax in a suburban environment but we will consider waiving the requirement in a rural setting
