About Neo

Introducing Neo!

This wonderful little guy is a 2-year-old, 30-pound, energetic fluffball of love.  He is tri-color, rough-coated, and, as you can see, very handsome.

Though accepted into rescue as a BC mix, it turns out he is mostly an Australian Shepherd and Australian Cattle Dog mix, with a smidge of German Shepherd and Collie thrown in for good measure. Whatever the mix, he took on the best of each breed, with a wonderful temperament; he is quite the charmer.

Neo is a super easy-going guy.  He started his life well-loved in a city duplex, so not much fazes him.

  • He’s vetted, neutered and microchipped.
  • Calm in the car but must be in a crate or have a seat belt.
  • Sleeps through the night in his bed, not in a crate.
  • Knows sit, lay down and has good recall.  Recall almost isn’t necessary as he is always checking in with you first!  Easy to call him off something he shouldn’t be doing, though haven’t really tested that with little scurrying critters yet.  He has shown interest in cats and squirrels, so would recommend a house without cats.
  • Great on a leash. Having grown up in an urban area with little yard and mostly sidewalk adventures, he is chill around cars, dogs, and people.
  • Handles the vet like a champ.
  • Thunderstorms and fireworks are not a problem.
  • Neo’s fur is super soft, but knots up really easily.  He will require a good brushing at least once a week to keep his fur from matting.  Good news is he loves the attention; he often falls asleep when getting pampered, I mean groomed!

Neo is crate-trained and willingly goes into his crate when we are leaving for work, but he has his two foster siblings in the room with him. Otherwise, he is not ok with being left home alone. He grew up with his brother and has been happy with his two foster siblings, so we think he would do best with a canine companion, particularly one who likes to play often.

Neo is housetrained and will make it through the night or workday without issue. When we are home, we have been letting him out every 2-4 hours, before a good indoor play session or when he wakes up after sleeping for a while. He has a tendency to drink a lot of water all at once. We’ve learned to pay attention to his drinking to prevent accidents, since he doesn’t always let us know that he needs to go outside.

Best of all, Neo is a complete cuddle bug!  If you are looking for a dog to snuggle with, Neo is your man!  He loves being with his people and would be thrilled to have a family who wants to play, go for walks, and keep him included in whatever cool thing is happening. His previous family included older children (7-9) and teens.

He has been camping, to a town food truck night, and a group dog walk with friends during his time in foster. He will readily snuggle up on the couch, climb into your lap, and I suspect would snuggle up in bed if allowed.
