About Rangeley
Meet Rangeley, a handsome, fun-loving 3-year-old Border Collie who has never met a stranger! This happy, outgoing boy absolutely adores people and believes everyone he meets is a potential new best friend. Whether he’s going for a car ride, greeting visitors, or even visiting the vet, Rangeley is always excited to be part of the action.

Rangeley came into rescue after his beloved owner passed away, and he’s now looking for a new family to share his big personality and enthusiasm for life.
This energetic boy loves staying busy, and one of his absolute favorite activities is playing with the water hose! He also enjoys car rides, meeting new people, and being wherever the action is. He’s doing well with the cats in his foster home and is mostly crate trained.

Like many intelligent, active Border Collies, Rangeley needs more than just physical exercise. He thrives when his mind is engaged and will benefit from a family that enjoys training, enrichment activities, and giving him constructive outlets for his energy. He’s still working on his house manners, including potty training, leash skills, and basic obedience. A positive reinforcement training class or two would be a wonderful way to help him build confidence and strengthen his bond with his new family.

Rangeley also has a sensitive side. Loud or unexpected sounds, including thunderstorms, motorcycles, sirens, and even everyday noises like coughing or sneezing, can make him anxious. When overwhelmed, he may pace or bark. He’s also very interested in passing cars and little critters like chipmunks, so a securely fenced yard is a must. A quieter, country setting would be ideal for this boy.
Although Rangeley has met many dogs, he would do best as the only dog in his new home. When stressed, he can occasionally snap at other dogs, so having his humans all to himself would give him the space and stability he needs to feel comfortable.
Rangeley is current on his routine veterinary care and is microchipped.

Rangeley also has a little something that makes him extra special: his unique coat! He has a condition called follicular dysplasia (color dilution alopecia), which affects the growth and pigmentation of his fur. This explains his beautiful smoky-gray coloring and the thinner coat along his body.
The good news is that his veterinarian has confirmed this is primarily a cosmetic condition that is not expected to affect his overall health or lifespan. No specific treatment is needed, and Rangeley can enjoy a happy, active life just like any other dog. He simply comes with his own distinctive look!

Rangeley’s ideal family will be patient, Border Collie savvy, committed to positive reinforcement training, and ready to provide plenty of mental stimulation, exercise, and understanding. In return, they’ll get a wonderfully social, affectionate, enthusiastic companion who has so much love to give.
If you’re looking for a lively, people-loving Border Collie with a big heart and an even bigger personality, Rangeley might just be your guy!
