Riley

Introducing Riley! He’s a 2.5 year old who recently came into rescue do to a change in his home. I’ve got to say he is one of the most uneventful fosters I’ve had in a while.

Riley is being fostered in southeastern Vermont. Riley has been a gem since arriving and I think he will have people chomping to get this sweet pup.

Since arriving (just a couple of weeks ago) he’s met about 50 dogs successfully. There are a couple of dogs that don’t appreciate his nippy behavior but he’s so easy to redirect and moves on. He loves chasing, being chased, bitey face/neck wrestling, lucky for him there are several dogs that love to oblige him.

Riley came from a home with 2 cats and the foster has a cat that Riley doesn’t mind at all – he mostly just ignores the cat. It is reported he’s good with children under 10 and unknown how he would be with children under 5. He’s a bit chubby and hopefully his family will help him loose a little weight (5 to 10 pounds) over time.

Sleeps well in a crate.

Friendly to visitors to the home – he jumps up but he’s pretty delicate about his jumping. He likes his people and isn’t far away, not a velcro dog either. Medium energy level – nothing over the top. (He could be an Aussie with a tail?)

He loves walking, hiking and is reported to stay near his family but any off-leash will need to be worked on over time, if at all. A fence is his friend but that said he did well with leash walks and hikes in his home. I would consider a home with no fence if everything else meets his needs. Riley is also happy lounging on the sofa or he’ll snuggle up with you in bed to watch a Sunday movie.

It would be nice for Riley to have a compatible canine friend and a home that has time to continue working with him to bring out his best qualities and explore enriching experiences.

If I had room I’d keep Riley in a heartbeat!
