About Skye

** UPDATE **

Skye arrived in her foster home after a lengthy stay in a shelter in New Jersey. She was found wandering the streets of New Jersey, where she had to be trapped by the shelter workers. After many months in the shelter, she was doing poorly, so the shelter reached out to NEBCR to relinquish her for fostering.

Skye arrived in Vermont nearly feral: shaking, refusing any form of human contact, pacing the house and fenced in yard (on two leashes due to her high flight risk), and completely shut down. Her two senior BC foster brothers, who are very accommodating and patient, quickly embraced her which allowed this girl to begin coming out of her shell. Skye made it perfectly clear to the household this was finally her safe space, and she was certainly not leaving. The turnaround was really miraculous, as well as rewarding to see. The decision was made and we have failed miserably as fosters! While we had no intention of adding a third young BC to our mix, Skye’s decision to stay in her new, quiet home with love and support from all members seems to be the best decision for this little girl. We have more work to do, but know she is up to the task!
