Icon

Meet Icon! (DOB 12/31/2022)

Icon is a special border collie born as the result of an accidental merle to merle breeding. He is deaf and has limited vision, but don’t tell him that because he doesn’t know it!

Many people may think that his limitations would make him a difficult dog to take care of, but he is honestly the easiest of dogs that will make an absolutely awesome companion for someone willing to love him.

He is a very handsome and very loving guy! Icon just wants to be with his people and thrives with attention and petting. In return, he is super loyal and will love snuggling with you any chance he gets.

Icon has been learning hand signals and has good command of sit, down and is working on recall.

Icon is house trained. He is crate trained and sleeps there through the night. He stays in his crate while his foster parents are at work with no indication of separation anxiety. He rides in a car beautifully. He sits and waits for his food very nicely.

He is neutered and is up to date on vaccines and preventatives. Icon is insured with Embrace Pet Insurance and the policy is transferable to his adopter. He has a soft, easy to care for coat and is chill for nail trims and baths.

Icon is 2 years old so he does have puppy energy, but with a nice off switch too. Icon has good leash skills and greatly enjoys walking, running, or hiking.

He’s easy going and non-reactive to people and dogs when out and about. If you are looking for the ideal running or hiking partner, Icon is a perfect match. Icon will need a fenced yard to keep him safe during his zoomies. He likes to play with all kinds of toys and will pick his preferred toy out of the toy box. Not surprisingly he has a great sniffer and would be a nose work or barn hunt candidate.

He loves chewing on elk horns! And don’t forget puppy antics…he will try to get your sock while you are putting it on, and he doesn’t counter surf but like any smart puppy he will indulge in a plate left at the right height!

Icon must be in a home without other pets. Icon has very strong herding genes and he becomes obsessed with trying to control their movement at all times. Other pets do not appreciate his obsession and no one ends up happy.

He does great with other dogs when on-leash on a walk or a hike, and enjoys such group outings, but he won’t be a dog park participant.

Icon is such a sweetheart, a normal dog in every other way, who is just looking for someone to share lots of love and snuggles with.
