Snoopy

Snoopy is an 18 month old spayed and fully vaccinated female collie mix. She is mixed with Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a little bit of St. Bernard.

We got her about a year ago as a rescue and she is the most loving and sweet soul. All she wants to do is please us. She’s a very happy girl, just loves to be alive and get affection from her humans.

She’s housebroken and crate trained and sleeps in a dog bed in our bedroom without problem. I do crate her when we leave the house for any length of time. She’s a medium sized dog, about 55 lbs.

She loves to steal socks and destroy them, loves to run outside and play with our other dog.

She knows her commands-sit, stay, down, wait, place (sit and wait before going through a door) bang! (roll over and play dead) and settle. She is a very, very good girl, and food motivated, so very easy to train. She’s super smart and attentive.

However, our other dog is an anxious dog, and is frightened of Snoopy. Our other dog was also a rescue and is smaller, and cannot handle Snoopy’s rough play and herding behavior. So we’ve ended up having to medicate the other dog for stress and anxiety.

We have not seen any aggressive behavior from Snoopy though she will resource guard at times. She’s just a big goofball and it’s too much for our other dog. Honestly, it breaks our hearts that we need to rehome Snoopy, but are hoping that we can find the right situation for her where she has more activity outside, and hopefully, a job to do, perhaps on a farm or through agility or other dog sports. She would be awesome at that.

She goes to doggy day care and gets along well with all the other dogs. She runs 3 miles or so a couple of times a week with a neighbor, and is a good companion dog if you are active. She would do best in a home with adults only or older kids as she could knock over a small child with her exuberance.

I don’t know how she is with cats, but think larger pets/dogs would be best. She is initially shy and quiet, but warms up to people quickly if introduced slowly. Overall, she’s a really sweet girl and would be happy to live an active life during the day, and snuggle in on the couch with you in the evenings.
